history
From 1868 to 1870 the villa was built by master builder Ernst Petzholtz for the Berlin bank director Hermann Henckel , the surrounding park was laid out from 1872 by the court gardeners Hermann Vollert and Gustav Meyer , pupil of Peter Joseph Lenné . The property also includes a winegrower's house, which was built in the mid-19th century in the style of an ancient temple.
In 2004, the media manager Mathias Döpfner acquired the villa, who initially had the interior and facade renovated between 2008 and 2010. After two years of use by the Business School Berlin Potsdam , the palace was given to him for a limited usufruct for a limited period of time . Years of dispute followed over the circumstances of the park renovation and the public accessibility of the 6.3 hectare park area. The renovation work, which is now ongoing, is scheduled to run until 2023.
