The Villa Rothenberg in Zweibrücken , located on the Rothenberg, is better known to the population as Villa Ipser . It was built in 1908 for the shoe manufacturer Anton Ipser.

The detached 19-room villa is surrounded by a 7,000 m² park. The building has three sides that can be viewed from the adjacent streets - the fourth side (east side) can only be seen from the adjacent property - and is surmounted by a tower. The original wood paneling of the stairwell has been preserved, the facades and roof have undergone extensive renovations in recent years.
history
The complete restoration of the badly dilapidated building began in 2001. After the Second World War it was temporarily used as a youth hostel and then as a site administration for the Bundeswehr. After the failed attempt to establish a hotel, the property fell into disrepair. The restoration work, which proved difficult and laborious, was completed in 2010. Since then there has been a private plastic surgery clinic in the villa.
Architectural style
The plans for the villa come from the Zweibrücken architect Otto Schäfer , who designed the building according to the aesthetic aspects of late historicism . In addition to stylistic elements based primarily on the Baroque and Renaissance styles, the architect also used those from the newly emerged Art Nouveau .
