Vilmos Kohut (born July 17, 1906 in Budapest , † February 18, 1986 there ) was a Hungarian football player . The striker won the Mitropa Cup with Ferencváros in 1928 and was runner-up at the 1938 World Cup in France.

Vilmos Kohut was a regular left winger in the professional Hungarian league from the 1926/27 season , when he was still playing alongside the Hungarian football legend Imre Schlosser . This season Vilmos Kohut won the Hungarian championship and was able to repeat this triumph with his team a year later. In 1928, the winger also made it to the final of the Mitropa Cup, the forerunner of the European Cup. Ferencváros faced last year's finalists SK Rapid Wien in the final and was able to hold their own 7: 1 and 2: 5. Vilmos Kohut scored two goals in the first leg and also scored a goal for the Green Eagles in the lost second leg. After he was again champion with Ferencváros in 1932 and won all championship games with the team, he moved to the newly founded French professional league at Olympique Marseille in 1933 .

Willy Kohut, as he was called here, soon became one of the first stars at Olympique, six years earlier he had played a part in Hungary's downgrading 13-1 victory over the French national team, defeating their goalkeeper Cottenet twice. With OM he won the Coupe de France in 1935 and 1938 , and scored one goal each in the two finals against Stade Rennais and FC Metz . The Hungarian striker received the French championship title in 1937. If the former Hungarian international had become uninteresting for the Hungarian selection due to his foreign involvement, Vilmos Kohut returned to the team at the “home” World Cup in France in 1938 and also scored the first goal for the Hungarians at the World Cup. The team ultimately had to admit defeat Italy 2-4 in the final. In the 1939/40 season he still played for FC Antibes , which in the league, which was divided into three regional seasons due to the outbreak of war, was bottom of the southeast group without a single point win.
