Location of Vilslern in Bavaria

Vilslern is a former municipality in the Landshut district . The parish seat was the place Untervilslern (today to Velden (Vils) ).

history

Vilslern is one of the " original parishes " in the Vilstal. According to a deed of donation from Bishop Atto von Freising (783 - 811), a settlement should already have existed in "Hlera". A first church is mentioned around the year 981. The village of Vilslern is divided into Obervilslern (on the Lerner Bach) and Untervilslern, which are connected by the Dorfstrasse and the Kirchenweg. Parish seat is Untervilslern. Today's Catholic parish church of St. Ulrich is a late Romanesque choir tower from the 13th century, expanded in 1754 in the Baroque style. The rectory is located in Obervilslern.

Vilslern was an independent municipality since the Bavarian municipal edict of 1818. The parish seat was Untervilslern. On May 1, 1978, the greater part of the municipality of Vilslern (Untervilslern, Aichelsberg, Bach, Brandholzen (connected to Holzen), Burghab, Giglberg, Hofbruck, Holzhäuseln, Hub, Marsberg, Mölling, Obervilslern, Ofen, Pfenningsöd, Sattelstatt, Schapfthal, Stockham, Vilssöhl, Zeil ) incorporated into Velden (Vils) .
