Vince Everett

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vince Everett , real name Marvin Benefield (born June 21, 1941 in Atlanta , Georgia , USA ) is an American rock 'n' roll musician whose vocal style was similar to that of Elvis Presley .

Career

Marvin Benefield was discovered in 1962 by the later Elvis producer Felton Jarvis and signed to ABC-Paramount Records. From then on, the name of the entertainer was changed to Vince Everett - after the name of the title character, whom Elvis embodied in the film Rhythm Behind Bars (Jailhouse Rock).

Everett, as he called himself from then on, never made it into the top 40 of the charts. Still, he was no stranger to Elvis fans. His style was similar to that of Elvis and, to the delight of Elvis fans, he did not copy his songs (such as Such A Night and Baby Let's Play House ), but recorded a number of his own titles that would have attributed the style to Elvis can be. In this respect, it was a pleasant musical addition for many Elvis fans at a time (between 1962 and 1965) when the King of Rock'n'Roll had switched to the film business himself and hardly made the music his fans loved. After all, Everett is - together with Ral Donner and Orion - one of the best "Elvis interpreters" of all time.
