Vincenc Lesný
Vincenc Lesný (born April 3, 1882 in Komárovice , † April 9, 1953 in Prague ) was a Czech Indologist and Sanskrit researcher who taught at the Charles University in Prague .
Lesný was a student of Moriz Winternitz and followed this in 1923 to the Visva-Bharati University in Shantiniketan , West Bengal. There he gave German courses, acquired knowledge of Bengali himself and received his habilitation in 1928.
He previously published Ukázky poezie a prózy in 1914 , a Czech translation of selected works by the Bengali poet Rabindranath Thakur . He met the poet personally in 1920.
