Vincent Willem van Gogh (born January 31, 1890 in Paris , † January 20, 1978 ) was the after-heir to the estate of his uncle Vincent van Gogh, the founder of the extensive collection of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam .

After his father, the art dealer Theo van Gogh , died in January 1891, his mother Johanna van Gogh-Bonger lived with Vincent Willem in the Netherlands. After a stopover in Bussum , where Johanna married the painter Johan Cohen Gosschalk, the family moved to Amsterdam in 1903. From 1907 to 1914 Vincent Wilhelm was at the Technical University of Delft and completed his studies as an engineer. His marriage to Josina Wibaut had three sons and a daughter. His eldest son Theodoor was executed by the German occupation on March 8, 1945 for participating in the resistance movement in the Netherlands. His second eldest son Johan was the father of film director Theo van Gogh .

After his mother's death in 1925, he inherited the collection of works by his uncle. He initially made this estate available on loan to various museums before the Vincent van Gogh Stichting was founded in 1960 . This foundation comprised around 200 paintings by Vincent van Gogh and some works by Paul Gauguin , as well as around 400 drawings and the collection of the artist's letters. The foundation was transferred to the Dutch state in 1962 in return for compensation of 15 million guilders. In 1973 the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam was opened in the presence of Vincent Willem van Gogh.
