Vincenzo Amato (musician)

Vincenzo Amato , also d'Amato, (born January 6, 1629 in Ciminna near Palermo, † July 29, 1670 in Palermo ) was an Italian baroque composer .

Life

Vincenzo Amato studied theology and music in the Archbishop's seminary in Palermo. Together with his fellow musicians Giovanni Battista Fasolo , Bonaventura Rubino and Bonaventura Aliotti , who, like him, were priests, he was one of the leading musicians in Palermo in the middle of the 17th century. Vinzenzo Amato was Kapellmeister of the Cathedral of Palermo from 1665 to 1670.

His sister Eleonora, who was married to Pietro Scarlatto (later Scarlatti), was the mother of Alessandro Scarlatti and his brother Paolo Amato was an important builder.
