Vincenzo Raimondini

Vincenzo Raimondini (* 1758 in Messina , † 1811 in Naples ) was an Italian geologist.

Raimondini studied medicine, chemistry, geology and mineralogy in Naples and went on a study trip to Germany and France with several other scientists from Naples in 1789. In 1793 he was again in Germany with the then leading geologist Abraham Gottlob Werner . He then dealt with mineralogy, geology and metallurgy, working with his friend Andrea Savaresi , among other things in the geological mapping of the kingdom and in the appraisal and improvement of ironworks in Calabria.

He became Director of the Royal Minerals Cabinet in Naples and Inspector of Waters and Forests of the Kingdom of Naples, with special responsibility for geology and mineralogy. In addition to Giuseppe Melograni (1750-1827) and Matteo Tondi (1762-1835) he taught mineralogy at the University of Naples and became a professor.
