Vincenzo Zappone

Vincenzo Zappone (born December 28, 1921 in Caramanico Terme , † December 6, 2007 in Pescara ) was an Italian writer who wrote his poetic writings mainly in the Abruzzo dialect .

biography

Zappone first worked as a railroad worker in Pescara . He gained fame as the author of poems, songs and books in the Abruzzo dialect . Zappone also composed children's songs. He dedicated the poem L'Antoniano , published in 1975, to the Zecchino d'Oro . One of his most famous poems was La radice quadrate (The Square Root ), which was written in Lu vente de la Majelle. Poetry dialettali appeared.

On the occasion of the landing of the Apollo 12 astronauts on the moon , he wrote «l'inno all'Astronauta», the astronaut's anthem. He then received a congratulatory letter from NASA and astronauts Charles Conrad , Richard Gordon and Alan LaVern Bean .

With his wife Antonietta, Zappone had sons Andrea and Antonio and daughter Laide.
