Violet Pierceu
Violet Pierceu or Violet Stewart Louisa Piercy (born December 24, 1889 in Croydon , † April 1972 in London ) was a British athlete. On October 5, 1926, she was the first woman to run the modern marathon route (42.195 km) from Windsor to London ( Polytechnic Marathon ), for which she needed a time of 3:40 hours. At the Olympic Games in 1924 , the winner Albin Stenroos needed 2: 41: 22.6 hours.
