The Vir Savarkar Airport (also Port Blair Airport ) is the civil area of a military airfield of the Indian Navy in Port Blair on South Andaman Iceland .
It serves as a regional airport and is named after Vinayak Damodar Savarkar . The airport is served by several Indian airlines. Goals are u. a. Chennai , Delhi and Mumbai . The airport is the seat of Andaman Airways .
The formerly completely civilian area has been subordinate to the Navy since 1984, who expanded the airfield after the takeover and opened it in 1985 as Indian Naval Station Utkrosh , INS Utkrosh for short . The Navy has a squadron of Do 228-201 patrol aircraft and some helicopters stationed here. In the north of the archipelago there is a second naval airfield with the INS Kohasa as an advanced base.
