The Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmad Yasawi ( Kazakh Қожа Ахмет Яссауи кесенесі Qodscha Ahmet Jassawi kesenesi ) was commissioned by the Mongols -Herrschers Timur 1389-1405 in the city of Yasi built (city Turkestan in Kazakhstan today). Although unfinished in parts, it is one of the largest and best-preserved structures from the time of Timur. At the mausoleum of Yasawi, he tried out construction technology and decorative art that would later shine in his capital, Samarkand .

history

Chodscha Ahmed Yasawi (also Ahmet Yesevi ; 1103–1165) is an important representative of Sufism (Islamic mysticism), a branch of Islam that is widespread in Central Asia . The collection of his manuscripts was declared World Document Heritage in 2003 and is now in the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 1781 the Kazakh Khan of the Middle Horde Ablai was buried in the mausoleum .

The mausoleum has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2003 .
