Saryarka ( Kazakh Сарыарқа Saryarqa ; German " Yellow Back ") is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Kazakhstan. The official name is "Saryarka - Steppe and Lakes of Northern Kazakhstan". The area is located west of Nur-Sultan (until 2019 Astana) in the area of ​​the Kazakh threshold around Lake Tengiz and was declared a World Heritage Site on July 7, 2008.

The World Heritage Site comprises two protected areas, the Naurzum Nature Reserve and the Korgalzhyn Nature Reserve . Together they cover an area of ​​450,344 hectares. In the protected areas there are wetlands, which are important resting places for endangered migratory birds such as the rare barnacle crane . The lakes Korgalzhyn and Tengiz are at times visited by up to 15 million birds. About 250,000 birds breed in this area. As many as 500,000 birds breed in the Naurzum Lakes area. The steppes of the region are also an important refuge for the saiga antelope .
