Virginijus Dambrauskas

Virginijus Dambrauskas (born April 23, 1962 in the district of Panevėžys ) is a Lithuanian chess player and chess official.

Life

Virginijus Dambrauskas is a civil servant and works as the chief inspector in the Information Systems Center in the Customs Department at the Ministry of Finance of Lithuania . Dambrauskas won the Lithuanian individual championship in 1992 and 1996 (together with Vytautas Šlapikas ) and has the title of International Master . As a substitute for the Lithuanian national team, he took part in the Chess Olympiad in 1992 and in the European Team Championship in the same year . At the European Club Cup Dambrauskas took in 1996 with the chess school Vilnius , 2006 and 2007 with NSEL30 Vilnius and in 2008 and 2009 with VŠŠSM Vilnius part. Since 1978 he has also been playing correspondence chess . He was named International Correspondence Chess Master in 1993, Honored International Correspondence Chess Master in 2001 and Correspondence Chess Grandmaster in 2018. He is vice-president of the Lietuvos korespondencinių šachmatų federacija .

Dambrauskas is married and has two daughters who are also correspondence chess players: Vilma Dambrauskaitė (* 1985) holds the title of Correspondence Chess Grandmaster for Women (LGM), Jurgita Dambrauskaitė (* 1990) holds the title of International Correspondence Chess Champion for Women (LIM).
