Visas and Virtue is an American short film from 1997. The script is based on a play by Tim Toyama.

In 1940 the Japanese Chiune Sugihara was employed as a diplomat in Kaunas, Lithuania. He and his wife Yukiko witness the persecution of the Jews. The consul general decides to jeopardize his career by defying direct orders and issuing life-saving visas. A total of 6,000 Jews are saved by Sugihara.
Awards
In 1998 the film received an Oscar in the Best Short Film category.
He won a Crystal Heart Award at the Heartland Film Festival . At the Algarve International Film Festival he was nominated for the Grand Prize of the City of Portimão .

Chiune Sugihara (1900–1986) was named Righteous Among the Nations in 1985.
