Visions in Motion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Visions in Motion was a temporary art installation that was on view from November 4 to 10, 2019 on Straße des 17. Juni at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. It was part of the official Berlin celebrations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Peaceful Revolution and the fall of the Berlin Wall , which were designed and implemented by Kulturprojekte Berlin . "Visions in Motion" was created by the American artist Patrick Shearn with his studio Poetic Kinetics, curated by Kulturprojekte Berlin.

The installation consisted of around 100,000 strips of fabric and was over 130 meters long. 30,000 of these tapes were labeled with personal messages and wishes, which were collected in summer 2019 at various events, online, at workshops in schools, churches and at street actions, in which the participants addressed the Peaceful Revolution and the wishes that the people had driven back then. Prominent personalities also took part in the campaign, such as E.g. the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen , Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Muhammad Yunus , David Hasselhoff , the pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim , the former President of the Soviet Union and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Mikhail Gorbatschow and Chancellor Angela Merkel .
