Vitalijus Majorovas
Vitalijus Majorovas ( Vitaly Maiorov , Russian Виталий Иванович Майоров , German transcription Witali Ivanovich Majorov ; born April 6, 1961 in Plungė , † 1997 ) was a Lithuanian chess player of Russian origin.
His trainer was Vitalius Vladas Andriušaitis (1926-2006) in Plungė. In 1977 Majorovas took 3rd place in the Lithuanian individual championship. In 1979 he became sports champion of the Soviet Union . Majorovas has held the title of International Master since 1987 . He worked as a chess trainer. Majorovas was the first president to head the Lithuanian Chess Federation ( Lietuvos šachmatų federacija ) after regaining national independence.
