Vittorio Terranova

Vittorio Terranova (born June 18, 1942 in Licata , Sicily ) is an Italian opera singer ( tenor ) and singing teacher .

Life

The Cologero Antonio Vittorio Terranova, who was born in Sicily and grew up there, received his vocal training at the Liceo Musicale Vincenzo Bellini in Catania and at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan . He made his debut as Arturo Talbot in the opera I puritani by Vincenzo Bellini at the Teatro Sociale in Mantua .

The internationally celebrated opera star, who u. a. appeared on the major opera stages in Milan, New York, Paris, Rome, Madrid, Graz, Vienna and Tokyo, while studying palaeography and music philology at the University of Pavia , based in Cremona .

Since 2001 Vittorio Terranova has been teaching at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan . The highly respected singing teacher has been a regular guest lecturer at the Università College of Music Osaka and the Academia Nusicale Musashino in Tokyo since 1993 . He is also the artistic director of ISO Deutschlandsberg , where he has headed the Belcanto Academy since 1992, including the Ferruccio Tagliavini International Singing Competition, which has been held in Deutschlandsberg and Graz since 1995 . He also teaches at the Accademia Internazionale di Canto Katia Ricciarelli . His students included Stefan Cifolelli , Carlo Ventre , Mihajlo Arenski , Rafael Cavero , Valter Borin, Francesco Meli , Lee Kwang-Keun and of course José Cura .
