Vixen Tor is a 300 m ASL high sphinx-shaped hill in the Walkham Valley near Merrivale between Tavistock and Princetown on the west of Dartmoor in Devon , England .
Vixen Tor rises 37 m from the moor and is an outcrop made of granite , which appears to be made of stacked rocks. Vixen Tor is on private land, is inaccessible and is the tallest free-standing rock in Dartmoor.
There is a legend according to which a witch named Vixana once lived in a cave at the foot of the gate. It has lured travelers to a nearby moor.
