The Vlaams Wielercentrum Eddy Merckx is a cycling track in Ghent, Belgium . It is the only closed cycle track in Belgium that meets international competition standards.
The Wielercentrum , named after the Belgian cycling star Eddy Merckx , opened on February 17, 2006. It is located in the Blaarmeersen recreation area and is part of the Bloso sports center in Ghent. The construction was financially supported by the provincial government of East Flanders , the city of Ghent, the Belgian and Flemish cycling federations and the Belgian lottery company.
Behind the hall with the cycling track there is a BMX track, and the interior of the cycling track can be used for handball , korfball , volleyball , badminton and cycling .
The Belgian railway championships have been held there every year since the Wielercentrum opened . In 2019, the UEC European Track Championships for Juniors / U23 were held in the hall .
