Vodacom is a publicly listed South African mobile communications company founded in 1994 with over 21 million customers. Half of the company is owned by Vodafone and the other half by the state-owned South African telecommunications group Telkom ( Afrikaans for "Telekom"). In the South African mobile communications market , the largest in Africa , Vodacom has a market share of 57%.

In addition to South Africa, the company also operates cellular networks in Tanzania , the Democratic Republic of the Congo , Lesotho and Mozambique .
