Friedrich Franz Brockmüller was the 11th child of a teacher and sponsored child of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II. He successfully attended the Schwerin high school. In 1901 he was able to take the drawing teacher exam at the Royal Art School in Berlin and then settled as a teacher in Lichterfelde . In 1904/06 Brockmüller studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin with Paul Meyerheim and Philipp Franck . This was followed by a time with the well-known animal sculptor August Gaul . He also dealt with the study of small Japanese sculptures and mastered chasing , patination , fire gilding , inlaying silver, gold and gemstones . 1907 was Friedrich Franz Brockmüller as a teacher art teacher at Berlin Luisengymnasium . Art trips took him to Tyrol , Italy , Algeria , Belgium , Sweden , Denmark , and later to the USA . As a soldier in the First World War Brockmüller suffered a serious injury to his hand, laboriously he began silhouettes to overcome the consequences. Artistically, the sculptural work was limited in particular to animal sculptures, statuettes, busts and reliefs. Applications for larger monuments and fountains were unsuccessful. The painter Paul Brockmüller was his brother.
