Vojtěch Hynais
Vojtěch Hynais (born December 14, 1854 in Vienna , † August 22, 1925 in Prague ) was a Czech painter, decorator and graphic artist.
Life
Hynais was the son of a Czech tailor who was relocated to Vienna and who did not want his children to be educated in German schools and who taught them himself. At sixteen, Hynais began studying at the Vienna Art Academy , and in 1873 he became a student of Anselm Feuerbach . From 1874 to 1875 and 1877 he studied in Rome and later finished his studies in Paris . Here he married his wife Augusta Voirinová in 1883 , with whom he had two children. In 1893 he received the professorship at the Prague Academy.
Awards
Honorary doctorate, Fügner's gold medal, membership in the Czech Academy of Sciences and Arts , officer of the French Legion of Honor .
Works
During his time in Italy, he mainly painted religious and mythological pictures for the Czech hospice in Rome. From 1880 he was involved in furnishing the Prague National Theater , where he finished the curtain after the great fire. In addition, his paintings included Peace , Allegory of Spring, Summer and Autumn . For the Pantheon of the National Museum he created new decorations and the poster for the anniversary exhibition in 1891. From 1889 to 1892 he worked for the Sérves company as their first graphic artist. He portrayed numerous famous people such as the patron and patriot Ferdinand Náprstek, Georg von Lobkowicz and the politician Karel Kramář . As an important representative of naturalism and veristic humanism, he also painted numerous landscapes.
