Ewald Breßlein

Ewald Breßlein (* 1925 ) is a former German weightlifter .

Career

Ewald Breßlein grew up in Essen . As a boy he played football for the STV Horst-Emscher and learned the trade of a fitter in a coking plant. In 1940 he began weightlifting at VKSA Essen in 1888, where he had excellent instructors in Adolf Wagner (weightlifter) and Karl Jansen . This led to his becoming German youth champion in the class up to 55 kg in 1942. In 1943 he was drafted and soon got into captivity, from which he was released in 1948. He started again with weightlifting and won five German championship titles in bantam and featherweight in the next few years . However, he did not achieve international success.

Ewald Breßlein was honored with the silver bay leaf on May 13, 1955.
