The vocal ensemble Stefan Lex was founded by tenor and conductor Stefan Lex under the name DER CHOR! founded.

The vocal ensemble , which is also conducted by Lex, is composed of 41 selected voices from 15 cities in North Rhine-Westphalia to form a choir ensemble. The choir's repertoire includes popular opera choirs such as the prisoner's choir from Nabucco or the pilgrims choir from Tannhäuser and the singer's war on Wartburg, as well as unknown and forgotten pieces such as the Starry Night by Hermann Schulken or the Spring Net by Karl Goldmark . Modern titles such as music by John Miles , spirituals such as When the saints go marching in and songs by Abba are also part of the ensemble's repertoire.

The choir is accompanied by the pianist Sigrid Althoff . The vocal ensemble has given concerts in the Aalto-Theater , the Philharmonie Essen , the Theater an der Wilhelmshöhe, the Orchesterzentrum Dortmund, Stadttheater Emmerich, Mercatorhalle Duisburg and the Grugahalle Essen . On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Borussia Dortmund , the choir gave a concert with Stefan Lex as tenor in front of 82,000 spectators in the Westfalenstadion .

The WDR broadcast several concerts with the vocal ensemble.
