Vokeo , also Wogeo , formerly Roissy Island , is a small island in the South Pacific island state of Papua New Guinea .
The almost circular, mountainous island with a land area of 16 km² and a highest elevation of 621 m forms the westernmost link in the chain of the Le Maire Islands . It is located around 52 km off the northeast coast of New Guinea and is now politically part of the East Sepik province .
The island was discovered around 1616 by the Dutch Schouten and Le Maire .
About 900 people live on Vokeo in 19 villages spread over the entire coastline (as of 2000). The largest village is Baijor near the northern tip of the island, with 93 inhabitants.
