Personal and professional

Growing up in Kammerstein near Schwabach , Volker Bauer learned the trade of industrial plant electronics and successfully passed his master craftsman examination in 2000.

In 2004 he founded his two medium-sized companies for electrical and drive technology, as well as for event equipment and team coaching.

Volker Bauer has been married since 2004. He is Protestant and the father of two children and lives in Kammerstein.

Political career

Volker Bauer was already interested in politics as a youngster and, for example, took part in the demonstrations against the planned reprocessing plant in Wackersdorf (Schwandorf district, Upper Palatinate) in the 1980s . In 1994, Bauer then joined the Junge Union to get involved in local politics in his home community. As early as 1996, as one of the youngest in the Roth district, he was elected to the Kammerstein district council and appointed youth representative.

In the district of Roth as "the black with green spots" known, Bauer always spoke openly against nuclear power. He recognized the importance of regional energy cycles and the associated added value early on and developed ideas for their implementation on site, such as the wood chip heating system with a local heating network in his home town. Within the CSU, Bauer held the honorary position of district manager in the CSU district association Roth from 2002 to 2009, before he inherited Manfred Weiß as CSU district chairman in 2009 . In the first years of his chairmanship he set up the CSU district association Roth against nuclear power and was a founding member of the CSU working group on the energy transition at state level.

In September 2013, after his election campaign (in which he constructed Bavaria's first solar raft, for example), Bauer was elected as the only member of the Bavarian state parliament for the Roth constituency. After his great-grandfather Heinrich Haiger (MdL 1919–1933), Bauer is the second member of the state parliament from the Kammerstein community and, after 35 years, succeeds the former state minister of justice Manfred Weiß as a constituency member.

Bauer is currently on the Environment and Consumer Protection and Public Service Committees in the Bavarian State Parliament.
