Volker Erner (born June 23, 1962 in Sundern ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and mayor of Erftstadt .

Since January 2001 Erner was the first alderman in Erftstadt. In October 2008 he was re-elected by the Erftstadt City Council for a further eight years. He has been the full-time mayor of Erftstadt since June 11, 2013. He was elected with 52.4% of the votes cast and thus achieved an absolute majority in the first ballot.

education and profession

Volker Erner graduated from high school in 1981 and then began studying law at the University of Münster . He completed this in 1988 with the first state examination in law.

He did his community service from 1988 to 1990 in a nursing home in the old people's home of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt in Erftstadt- Lechenich . Volker Erner completed his legal traineeship in the district of the Cologne Higher Regional Court from 1990 to 1993. With the completion of the 2nd state law examination in April 1993, he acquired the qualification as a fully qualified lawyer with the qualification for judicial office .

Also in 1993, Volker Erner began his administrative work as a legal advisor to the city ​​of Cologne . Here he rose to the upper right of the city until he moved to Erftstadt.

Among his most important achievements during his tenure as 1st alderman in Erftstadt was the conversion of all Erftstadt elementary schools into open all-day schools and the conversion of two secondary schools into bound all-day schools. Childcare in Erftstadt was brought up to a modern and needs-based educational level under his leadership.

From a socio-political point of view, he was significantly involved in the establishment of ARGE -Rhein-Erft and the associated establishment of a job center on site in Erftstadt. The concerns of the elderly, people with disabilities and the socially needy in Erftstadt have experienced a new perception in the public through his commitment and the projects he initiated.

Volker Erner has been a member of the CDU since 2000, a member of the CDA since 2005 and a member of the CDU KPV since 2008 . Erner is a member of the board of the CDU Erftstadt.

Private

Volker Erner is married, has two children and has lived in Lechenich since 1994. He is involved in several associations of culture, customs and sport.
