Volker Hatje

Volker Hatje (born July 17, 1961 in Elmshorn ) is a German politician ( non-party ) and has been the mayor of Elmshorn since 2014 .

Life

Hatje completed his schooling in 1981 with the Abitur , which he passed at the Elsa Brändström School in his hometown of Elmshorn. After completing his military service, he studied at the Altenholz University of Applied Sciences between 1982 and 1985. From 1985 to 2004 he worked in the Horst office as head of the main office, treasurer and deputy administrative manager. In 2004 Hatje took up his position as head of the internal service department in Wedel and held this position until 2009. Between 2009 and 2013 he was Elmshorn City Councilor.

He was elected Mayor of Elmshorn in mid-September 2013. The non-party Hatje prevailed with 81.9 percent of the vote against Katja Wolframm from the Greens . In September 2019 he was re-elected with 67.7 percent of the vote. Four other people had applied for the office. The non-party Hatje had received support from the CDU and SPD  .

Hatje is the father of four children.
