Volker Hinrichsen (born July 26, 1954 in Westerland , Sylt ) is a professor of electrical engineering and head of the high-voltage technology department at the Technical University of Darmstadt .

Life

Volker Hinrichsen studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Berlin . He completed his studies in 1982 as a graduate engineer . After completing his studies, he initially stayed at the TU Berlin, where he was a research assistant at the Institute for High Voltage Technology and Power Systems under Professor Peiser until 1989 . In 1990 he received his doctorate on "Simulation of the electrical and thermal behavior of metal oxide arresters without spark gaps when operated on alternating voltage" as a Dr.-Ing.

In 1989 he moved to Siemens AG , where he was a test field engineer at the high voltage switchgear in Berlin until 1992 .

From 1992 to 2001 he worked as development manager for surge arresters at Siemens in Berlin.

In August 2001 he became professor for electrical engineering (C4) at the Technical University of Darmstadt, where he heads the high-voltage engineering department . In the summer semester of 2009 he gave the lectures "Electrical and Information Technology II", "High Voltage Technology II" and "Electromagnetic Compatibility".
