Volker K. Thomalla

Volker K. Thomalla (* Wildeshausen ) is a German aviation journalist. He was editor-in-chief of the magazines aerokurier , FLUG REVUE and Klassiker der Luftfahrt .

Career

After graduating from high school in Wildeshausen, Thomalla studied communication science at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . After an internship at Aerokurier ( Motorpresse Stuttgart ) in 1986, he accepted the offer from Ringier Germany to volunteer in the editorial office of the Fliegermagazin . From 1986 to March 1990 he worked as a trainee and later an editor at Fliegermagazin in Munich. During this time he also obtained the PPL-A pilot's license and began to write his first books. In the course of his career as an aviation journalist, various type ratings and the IFR instrument flight rating were added.

In March 1990 he switched to the Aerokurier editorial team at Motorpresse Stuttgart , where he was appointed editor-in-chief in 1995. From 2000 to 2016 Thomalla was also editor-in-chief of the Flug Revue and Aviation Classics editorial teams . All three editorial offices were based in Bonn.

From 2016 to 2018 he was editor-in-chief of the English-language business aviation magazine BART International , then managing director of the German Business Aviation Association (GBAA). He currently publishes the specialist aviation medium Aerobuzz.de .
