Volker Schurig (born February 16, 1940 in Dresden ) is a German chemist and professor at the University of Tübingen .

Life

Schurig grew up in Großröhrsdorf in Upper Lusatia and attended the Evangelical Kreuzgymnasium in Dresden from 1950 to 1958 . He was a singer in the Dresden Kreuzchor and from 1957 second choir prefect. In 1958 he graduated from high school. From 1959 to 1968 he studied chemistry at the University of Tübingen. At the end of 1968 he received his doctorate and at the beginning of 1975 he completed his habilitation there. In 1979 he became C2 professor and in 1990 C3 professor for organic chemistry and separation processes at the University of Tübingen. Holger Bettinger is his successor.

Schurig has been married since 1974 and has two children.
