Volker Thiel (politician)

Volker Thiel (born August 5, 1955 in Lüneburg ) is a German politician ( FDP ) and freelance management consultant .

Life

Volker Thiel obtained his general university entrance qualification in 1974 and then studied Catholic theology, educational science, philosophy and history at the Free University of Berlin . Thiel finished his studies in 1986 with a Magister Artium. Since 1985 Volker Thiel has been working as a freelance consultant, trainer and lecturer. From 2001 to 2004 Thiel worked as a lecturer at the Free University of Berlin in the field of education and psychology. Volker Thiel is married and has no children.

politics

Volker Thiel has been a member of the FDP since 1997 and a member of the state committee for economics, finance and labor. From 2001 to 2015 he was district chairman of the FDP Treptow-Köpenick. In 2001, Volker Thiel ran for the FDP in the Treptow-Köpenick district for the Berlin House of Representatives , of which he was a member from November 2001 to 2011. In the Berlin state election in 2006, the FDP received 7.6%. Volker Thiel was elected from the Treptow-Köpenick district list with 9.6% of the second vote (2001: 5.9%). In the FDP parliamentary group, Volker Thiel was the spokesman for economy, technology, women, culture and work and represented his parliamentary group in the relevant committees of the House of Representatives. He was also a member of the main committee and the subcommittees for assets and participation. In the election for the Berlin House of Representatives in 2011 , the FDP no longer moved into the House of Representatives and its mandate ended. In 2013 he ran in the Bundestag constituency Berlin-Treptow - Köpenick as a direct candidate of the FDP and received 2.0% of the first votes.

Since 2007 he has been the spokesman for the regional committee of the FDP Berlin. He is also deputy chairman of the Federal Economic and Labor Committee of the FDP.

From December 2007 to November 2010, Volker Thiel was the Berlin state chairman of the Association of Self-Employed Persons . Since February 2014 he has been chairman of the district town twinning association Partner Treptow-Köpenick eV
