Volkmar Tympel (born August 1, 1935 ) is a former German soccer player who played for BSG Chemie Zeitz in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR soccer, in 1959 and 1960 .

Athletic career

In the 1954/55 season, the then 19-year-old Volkmar Tympel played for the first time in higher-class football for the second-rate GDR league team , the company sports association (BSG) Chemie Zeitz. With his 22 appearances and four goals, he immediately secured a regular place. He also defended this in the following GDR league seasons. In 1958 (now the calendar season) he played all 26 point games, mainly playing as a right defender, and was thus significantly involved in the rise of BSG Chemie in the GDR league. Also in the first league season of BSG Chemistry Tympel was called up in all 26 point games in his regular position on the right side of the defense in 1959. In 1960 Tympel was only absent from four league games, but at the end of the season he had to relegate back to the GDR league with the Zeitzers. In 1961 GDR football was switched back to the summer-spring rhythm, so that 39 games had to be played in the GDR league. Due to injury, Tympel could only be used in six matches. In the 1962/63 season he was there again, was used 22 times in the 26 league games and with his four goals was again successful as a goalscorer after four years. As a second division team, Chemie Zeitz surprisingly reached the final of the GDR soccer cup in 1963 . There the team with Tympel lost 3-0 as right winger Motor Zwickau . The GDR league season 1963/64 was Tympel's last season in higher-class football. This time 30 point games were played, in which Tympel was used again in 24 games and scored the last two goals of his career as a first and second division player. At the end of this career, he had 48 league games (without goals) and 146 GDR league games (17 goals).
