The Volksbad Magdeburg is a listed bathing establishment in the city of Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments , the bathing establishment is listed as a monument under registration number 094 16797 .

history

The building at Hamburger Straße 11 was built in 1912 as a municipal public bath for the residents of the Neustadt district. The design came from the municipal building officer Wilhelm Berner.

description

The building is a two-story plastered building in neoclassical style , with large rectangular windows and a hipped roof . The floor plan of the building is U-shaped with short wings facing the garden. The wings were originally open-air sunbathing. The building was separated according to the sexes, the men in the western part and the women in the eastern part. There was a library on the upper floor . The building had a total of 16 bathtubs and 24 shower rooms.
