history

County Hoya People's Bank

Volksbank Grafschaft Hoya eG had its roots mainly in savings and loan funds, which were based on the principle of helping people to help themselves, which was developed by Friedrich-Wilhelm Raiffeisen. The exception was the commercial bank in Hoya founded in 1908 based on the ideas of Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch. The founding years of the cooperatives go back to 1892.

Volksbank Grafschaft Hoya eG emerged from the merger of four independent Volksbanks in the region. In 1989 Volksbank Hoya and Volksbank Eystrup merged. With this merger, the name was also changed to Volksbank Grafschaft Hoya eG. In 1990 the merger with Volksbank Asendorf took place. The path to Volksbank Grafschaft Hoya eG was finally completed in 1994 through the merger with Volksbank Marklohe-Wietzen.

The mergers were preceded by several mergers between 1963 and 1971. As with the mergers between 1989 and 1994, the focus was on creating economically efficient banks in the region. The partially operated goods stores were gradually given up as part of the changes. These were taken over by the legally independent goods cooperatives. The regional presence was strengthened through the opening of branches in the 1960s and 1970s.

Volksbank eG, Verden (Aller)

The bank was founded in May 1924 under the name Bank for Commerce, Industry and Agriculture. In 1943 the bank, trading under the changed name Spar- und Kreditbank, took over the Spar- und Kreditkasse Blender.

Volksbank eG Verden emerged from the merger of Volksbank Verden with Volksbank Holtebüttel in 1985 and Volksbank Morsum in 1992. As part of the merger in 1992, the name was changed to Volksbank eG, Verden.

In line with regional interests and the cooperative principle, the bank opened branches in Armsen and Kirchlinteln in the mid-1970s. The branch in Bendingbostel, which is also in the business area of the bank, was acquired by Volksbank Lüneburger Heide.

Volksbank Aller-Weser eG

Volksbank Aller-Weser eG was created in 2012 through the merger of Volksbank Grafschaft Hoya eG with Volksbank eG, Verden.
