Volksbank Engen

The first cooperative bank developed in Hegau in the mid-19th century . On January 27, 1865, 52 citizens joined the initiative of the businessman Wilhelm Doser and the postman Donat Munding and founded the advance and savings association in Engen. With a share capital of 1,945 guilders , the first loans to craftsmen were granted in the "business premises" of the respective cashier's house. At the end of 1874 more than 36,000 guilders had been borrowed and the cooperative had 753 members. In 1903 the first own business premises were acquired.

On May 23, 1943, the company merged with Spar- und Kreditbank eGmbH Engen . At the end of the 1960s, the branch network was expanded to 21 locations. In 1976 and 1977 there was a merger with Volksbank Tengen eG and Spar- und Kreditkasse eGmbH Aach .

Volksbank Singen was founded on January 20, 1960. Business operations began in April 1960 in rented rooms in the former "Central" hotel. In July 1961 the first branch was opened in Gottmadingen . On July 7, 1977, the bank moved into a new building in which a car and late night counter was set up for customers, which was innovative for the time. In the following years, the branch network was further expanded. The number of members had risen from 174 in 1960 to 3,460 in 1985.

In 1998 Volksbank Singen and Volksbank Engen merged to form Volksbank Singen-Engen eG. In 2006 the name of Volksbank Singen-Engen eG was changed to Volksbank Hegau eG. In 2012 Volksbank eG, Villingen-Schwenningen , took on Volksbank Hegau eG through a merger.
