Volksgarten Nymphenburg
The Volksgarten Nymphenburg was a place of amusement in the then still independent Munich suburb of Nymphenburg .
The Volksgarten was built in 1890 on Romanplatz on the site of the former Nymphenburg brewery and was the final stop for the tram at that time . The opening took place on May 15, 1890; in its day it was the largest amusement park in Germany.
history
The ideas was Hugo Oertel , and Heinrich Theodor Hoch , a major Munich reality owner financed the park. They implemented this idea for Munich based on the models of the Prater in Vienna , Luna Park on Coney Island and Tivoli in Copenhagen . The Nymphenburg Volksgarten offered attractions for 30,000 visitors, including several restaurants with a ballroom, a hippodrome , various rides and variety shows .
The Volksgarten was removed again in 1916. The villa colony on Notburgastraße was built in its place . Today only the Volksgartenstraße reminds of the amusement park at this point.
