National Socialist Volkskulturwerk

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The National Socialist Volkskulturwerk was a party organization founded in 1942 to influence the folk-cultural associations and communities in the German Reich in the sense of the NSDAP . It existed until 1945, but hardly emerged.

By decrees of Joseph Goebbels of April 24th and May 7th, 1942 with the consent of Robert Leys , the NS-Volkskulturwerk was set up in the Reich Propaganda Management of the NSDAP with the purpose of “ensuring the uniform cultural-political orientation of the folk-cultural associations and communities, all for their commitment the NSDAP, its branches and affiliated associations to take the necessary measures, as well as to deal with the common affairs of its members and to bring about close cooperation among them ”. It was subordinate to the main cultural office and was directed by Karl Cerff in 1942 . The district and district culture officers of the Reich Propaganda Leadership were subordinate to him. The Nazi organization KdF needed the clubs for folk culture work and was represented in the folk culture work by the head of the office after work as deputy head. Entry was voluntary, but there was little opposition to it. The following major associations came into play: German Singers Association , Reich Association for Folk Music , Reich Association of Mixed Choirs in Germany , Deutscher Heimatbund , Bayreuth Bund , Reichsbund für Volksbühnenspiele , Reichsbund der Deutschen Freilicht- und Volksschauspiele , Heimatwerk Sachsen .
