Coordinates: 35 ° 4 ′ 49 ″  N , 85 ° 8 ′ 8 ″  W Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations LLC is the operating company of what is currently the only US Volkswagen production site in Chattanooga , Tennessee after the production of the Volkswagen Westmoreland Assembly ( location ), which has produced 1.15 million vehicles since 1978.

history

The Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations LLC was founded on December 29 of 2008. The first construction work for the plant began on February 3, 2009. On September 30, 2010, the first suppliers officially put the industrial park for component suppliers into operation. Production of the first customer vehicle began on April 15, 2011. The factory was officially opened on May 24, 2011.
