Volto! is an American fusion and metal band from Los Angeles , California that was formed in 2003.

history

The band consisted of Tool drummer Danny Carey , guitarist John Ziegler, keyboardist Jeff Babko ( Jimmy Kimmel Live! Band) and bassist Lance Morrison. Ziegler had met Morrison a few years before, before he had been active with him in Pigmy Love Circus since December 2002 and both in October 2003 Volto! founded. The band was exclusively live for almost 10 years before they went into the studio with producer Joe Barresi to record their debut album, which was released in 2013 under the name Incitare . The sound carrier was released by Fantasy Records , a sub-label of Concord Records .

style

According to James Christopher Monger from Allmusic , the band plays Jazz Fusion and fills the gap between King Crimson , Liquid Tension Experiment and The Mars Volta . According to progarchives.com the album Incitare is purely instrumental. The band melts metal with jazz rock on the sound carrier . To Detlef Dengler from Metal Hammer , Incitare gave the impression that the songs were created spontaneously and recorded unfinished. Each musician contributes solos in equal parts. The songs lack groove and melodies are absent. The music can be described as a mixture of jazz and fusion.
