Voluntary Human Extinction Movement

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Voluntary Human Extinction Movement , better known under the abbreviation VHEMT (pronounced vehemently ), is a deep ecological spiritual movement that advocates the voluntary extinction of mankind. Her motto "May we live long - and die out" sums up her goal briefly. Some prefer the phrase "may we live well - and die out". This view is not uncommon in the world of deep ecology that does not classifies humanity in the world higher than the biosphere of the Earth .

The VHEMT idea does not advocate murder , suicide , abortion or other violent methods; Instead, it would like to encourage people to critically deal with any desire to have children and to voluntarily stop reproducing themselves . The VHEMT is in contrast to extreme representatives of anti-natalist positions, such as the Church of Euthanasia headed by Chris Korda , who explicitly propagate suicide, abortion, cannibalism and anal sex as methods to achieve their goals.

The VHEMT movement has two levels of support. “Volunteers” are people who believe in the goal of VHEMT and who have therefore chosen not to have children (or no more if they had children at the time of joining). "Supporters" are people who do not necessarily want humanity to die out, but still believe that population reduction is appropriate. They do not want to have any (more) children either.

VHEMT does not consider itself an organization, as there are no structures or networks among its proponents. VHEMT is an intellectual attitude that is presented in parts on its website, but this does not necessarily have to be congruent with the views of the proponents. An official voice of this position does not exist.
