Church of Euthanasia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Church of Euthanasia (CoE) is an anti-natalist religious community founded by "Reverend" Chris Korda in 1992 with headquarters in Delaware and offices in Boston .

The Church of Euthanasia, initially located in Somerville , Massachusetts , blames the rapid population growth of humanity for the destruction of other life forms and therefore advocates saving the earth through suicide , abortion , cannibalism and anal intercourse . The CoE is in contrast to more moderate representatives of anti-natalist positions, such as B. the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement , which also propagate the extinction of mankind, but explicitly reject murder, suicide and abortion as methods to achieve this goal.

According to his own statement, Korda founded the community after a dream in which a being called The Being had asked him to save the earth by suicide. The first and only " commandment " of the community is Thou shalt not procreate ( you shall not procreate ). The community also accepts mothers and fathers, but only under the obligation not to father any further offspring. Violation of this guideline will result in exclusion from the community.

The CoE is officially recognized as a religious community in the United States . According to its own information, the CoE had several hundred members in the United States in 1996.

In the United States, the community first became known to a wider audience in 1997 after members of the CoE appeared on an "I Want to Join a Suicide Cult" episode of The Jerry Springer Show . The music video I Like To Watch , published after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 on the CoE website, aroused massive criticism , in which footage from reporting on the attacks was combined with excerpts from pornographic films and sporting events. In addition, the CoE mainly uses high-profile guerrilla campaigns such as attacks on sperm banks with giant penises spraying foam, “cannibalistic” taste tests in shopping centers or counter-demonstrations at pro-life demos in front of abortion clinics to publicize their goals.
