Volvo B30

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The B30 was a petrol engine from the Swedish car manufacturer Volvo , which was introduced in 1968 in the Volvo 164 car model . It was used as a carburetor engine under the designation B30A with a twin carburetor system from Stromberg with 96 kW (130 hp) and as an injection engine under the designation B30E with a D-Jetronic injection system from Boschand 118 kW (160 hp), which was also used on the B20E. Volvo has deviated from the normal company coding for engines for the B30A. A always stood for an engine with one carburetor, B for one with two. But since there was no single carburetor version with this one, it was probably deviated from here. It is a six-cylinder in - line engine with a side camshaft ( OHV valve control ) and a displacement of approx. 3 liters . It was also manufactured by Volvo Penta with three carburettors as the AQ 170 A boat engine and was also used in the Volvo C303 off-road vehicle . The engine was technically based on the four-cylinder B18 / B20 .
