Vonetta McGee

Lawrence Vonetta McGee (born January 14, 1945 in San Francisco , California - † July 9, 2010 in Berkeley , California) was an American actress .

Life

McGee graduated from Polytechnic High School in San Francisco in 1962 . She made her debut in the title role in the Italian comedy Faustina from 1968. In the western Corpses Pave His Way (1968), she played alongside Jean-Louis Trintignant and Klaus Kinski . She made known her participation in the action films Melinda (1972) and Hammer (1972).

In the 1973 action thriller Shaft in Africa , McGee played the role of Aleme , the daughter of an emir, who taught John Shaft in Ethiopian culture. In the action thriller In the Order of the Dragon (1975) she starred alongside Clint Eastwood in one of the bigger roles.

McGee was married to actor Carl Lumbly from 1987 , they had one child. She died of cardiac arrest in 2010 at the age of 65.
