Vonnegut is an impact crater on the planet Mercury .

It is located in the so-called Borealis Quadrangle , which encloses the north pole of Mercury up to 65 ° N, and has an average diameter of 26.61 kilometers. The closest crater with proper names is the Yoshikawa crater, just a few kilometers south, with a diameter of 30 kilometers .

On August 4, 2017, it was named after the American writer Kurt Vonnegut (1922–2007). An asteroid in the main belt was named after Vonnegut in 2002 : (25399) Vonnegut .
