foreground
The foreground stands in the literal sense for:
- Objects that are directly in front of the viewer's gaze, see perspective
- a “front” image area in photography and painting that seems to be closest to the viewer and that dominates the image
- spatial relationships in astronomy when objects are close
- move noticeably in front of more distant (see occultation , double star and parallax )
- should be distinguished from those behind it, e.g. B. Moon or planets in front of the star background , galaxies in front of galaxy clusters behind
In a figurative sense, the foreground is used:
- In IT in processes, when a running process or program is assigned to a user, in contrast to the background process
- if, for example, a topic, a problem or an argument is "in the foreground" (= is particularly important)
- when a thought "moves to the foreground" (= attracts attention)
