The Vostok Point is a headland on the south coast of South Georgia in the South Atlantic . It is located northwest of Diaz Cove . To the southwest is Lazarev Island , the northernmost of the Kuprijanow Islands .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2009. It is named after the corvette Vostok , flagship of the first Russian Antarctic expedition (1819–1821) under the direction of Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen .
