Ambroise-François de Bournonville (* around 1620, † December 12, 1693 ) was a French nobleman and military man; he was the 3rd Duke of Bournonville , Pair de France and Governor of Paris

Life

Ambroise-François de Bournonville was the third son of Alexandre I de Bournonville , Duke of Bournonville, and Anne de Melun. He was Seigneur de Fampoux et de Rœux in Artois , Seigneur de La Motte-Tilly etc.

In contrast to his older brother Alexandre II. De Bournonville , who was in imperial and Spanish service, Ambroise-François de Bournonville entered the service of the King of France. As a cavalry captain he fought in Piedmont , on May 26, 1642 in the battle of Honnecourt . He was promoted to maréchal de bataille , colonel of the infantry and maréchal de camp .

King Louis XIV made the Duchy of Bournonville a peerage in his favor in September 1652, but this was never formally registered. At the king's coronation on June 7, 1654, he represented the Count of Champagne . In 1657 he was appointed governor of Paris, in 1660 he was given the office of Chevalier d'honneur of Queen Maria Teresa of Spain (1638–1683) . The death of Cardinal Mazarin and the fall of Fouquet (1661) forced him to resign from his offices and to leave the court in 1662.

Ambroise-François de Bournonville entered the clergy and was ordained a priest after the death of his wife (January 22, 1678). He died on December 12, 1693 at his castle La Motte-Tilly and was buried in the Prieuré des Filles de Saint-Benôit in nearby Nogent-sur-Seine .

Marriage and offspring

Ambroise-François de Bournonville married Lucrèce-Françoise de La Vieuville, daughter and heiress of Charles I. de La Vieuville , 1st Duke of La Vieuville, and Marie Bouhier de Beaumarchais on April 29, 1655 . Their only child is Marie Françoise de Bournonville (* August 1656, † July 16, 1748 in Paris), Dame du Palais of Queen Maria Teresa, who on August 13, 1671 Anne-Jules de Noailles (1650–1708), Comte d ' Ayen and in 1678 2nd Duc de Noailles, Pair de France, Marshal of France , Governor of Roussillon , Viceroy of Catalonia etc., married.
